Earth Helper Induction Programme by Singapore Environment Council: 17 Dec, 2.15pm

The Singapore Environment Council (SEC) has organised a volunteer induction session for this Saturday afternoon. Besides an introduction on the work that SEC does, there will be a talk on volunteerism by Green Drinks Singapore and a demonstration on terrarium-making and eco enzyme-making. Details below.

Earth Helper Induction Programme

Find out about the events and activities we have in store for 2012, and all the ways you can use your skills, knowledge and time to help us enhance our ability to act on environmental issues in Singapore!

In addition to a briefing by SEC on our work, the afternoon will also feature a talk on “Why Volunteer for the Environment”, by Olivia Choong, founder of the popular and dynamic Green Drinks Singapore forum.

SEC staff and fellow Earth Helpers will also be on hand to demonstrate how to create Eco Enzymes and Terrariums, which are part of our outreach demonstrations to members the public.

This Induction Programme is a wonderful opportunity to meet fellow Earth Helpers and SEC staff as we continue our journey towards achieving a passionate and dynamic environmental volunteering community in Singapore.

With diverse volunteering and learning opportunities in store, we hope the Earth Helpers initiative will be rewarding and empowering for all our volunteers.

About our Speaker:

Olivia Choong

Olivia is mostly known as the founder of Green Drinks Singapore, the local chapter of an internationally-recognised movement with a presence in more than 790 cities. Founded in November 2007, Green Drinks Singapore connects businesses, government, green businesses, NGOs and likeminded individuals for knowledge sharing and collaboration opportunities.

Relying only on the internet and word of mouth, Green Drinks Singapore now has more than 1300 members on its Facebook group, and now attracts an average of 80 participants to its monthly meetings, which consists of a talk and networking session. In addition to these meetings, Green Drinks also holds discussions, documentary screenings and workshops.

More recently, Olivia decided to tap into her writing, public relations and environmental background by started an environmental public relations consultancy called Sustainable PR, with the vision of pushing along the green economy by raising awareness of green businesses, its products and services.

Outside of running Sustainable PR and Green Drinks Singapore, Olivia splits her time between blogging and contributing environmental stories to eco-business.comand Public House.
