Secondsguru is a social enterprise that focuses on environmental education. This is their 4th bootcamp this year towards zero waste in Singapore.
The four-series Zero Waste Bootcamps (ZWB) are targeted at youth (18-30 year olds) in Singapore. Aligned with the national theme “towards zero waste” in 2019, three sets of bootcamps have been organised so far.
-The first ZWB session was held on Mar 2, 2019 in conjunction with CDL’s EcoBank. It’s follow-up was concluded on May 4, 2019. Witness the energy from the first ZWB session here and the follow up here.
-The third ZWB session was held on August 31, 2019. The follow-up session will be held on Friday, November 29, 2019. See the teams in action at the 3rd session here.
At every review session, the teams do a pitch presentation with the details of their community project. One team is declared the winner of a SG$ 500 grant and awarded eco-gifts from partners.
To recap, here’s how the bootcamp works: Participants attend a 1-day workshop which includes immersive group work. They are facilitated to self-create a team plan – the aim being to guide their communities to embrace ‘zero waste lifestyles’.
But that’s not how it ends; We are designing this bootcamp to lead to real outcomes, and not just knowledge. 8-10 weeks later, all participants will be invited to share how their group plan fared – what was their experience, and what kind of impact were they able to create. On this basis, one of the groups will be declared winner -they will be awarded an eco gift hamper, a grant and of course get recognition on the Secondsguru platform.
