The Singapore Eco Film Fest is back for a second year and launches on 31 August and ends 3 September. Swing by for the opening night film, Acid Ocean, and mingle with likeminded folks! Some of us from the Green Drinks team will be there, I hope you can join us!
We kick off the second edition of the Singapore Eco Film Festival (SGEFF) with the Singapore premiere of Acid Ocean and an Opening Night party at The Projector! Come hang out with our community partners and find out what they do over free drinks from our Official Drinks Partner, Sluggr.
One of SGEFF’s themes this year is the OCEAN. Covering almost three-quarters of this planet we call home and producing most of the oxygen we breathe, our oceans also absorb much of the carbon dioxide we produce, thus slowing down global warming.
Acid Ocean’s director of photography Simon Enderby will introduce the film, which documents how marine scientists across the world are tackling ocean acidification, one of the most urgent environmental challenges facing our planet today. The film tracks the latest scientific research from the icy polar seas to the world’s most pristine coral reefs. Dr Katharina Fabricius from the Australian Institute of Marine Science heads the investigation and has made a game-changing discovery: Nestled amongst Papua New Guinea’s stunning coral gardens is a unique reef, a window to the future of our oceans.
From 6pm to 7.45pm, join us for an evening of conversation and laughter with booths and bicycle powered short film screenings by the following partners:
ACRES, International Bicycle Film Festival, iDOPT, Biodiversity Connections and The Pangolin Story. There will be a speed dating/ networking session facilitated by The Inceptry, and a chance to win $200 travel gift vouchers sponsored by ElementZ, a conservation-oriented travel company.
Special overseas guests who will be at the Opening Night and speaking at our main festival from 1- 3 Sep include:
Simon Enderby (Borneo Eco Film Festival and Scuba Zoo) – Underwater photographer and videographer
Vanessa Pirotta – Marine Predator Researcher, Macquarie University
Michael Candy – independent artist/engineer/hacker (michaelcandy.com)
Sandor Weyers – Wildlife Conservationist, Founder of ElementZ Travel and iDOPT Technologies
Hope to see you there! RSVP here.
