Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, will be attending the US Rio+2.0 Conference to be held from Feb 2-4 in Palo Alto, California, his ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

The US Rio+2.0 conference brings together international policymakers, private sector practitioners and innovators to explore how communication technologies can help advance solutions in the context of global sustainable development, the statement said.

Organised by the US State Department’s Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs, the US Rio+2.0 Conference is part of the preparatory process for the upcoming United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, also known as the Rio+20.

The international Rio+20 will be held in June 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
