Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Dr Vivian Balakrishnan will be meeting with other ASEAN ministers on Friday to discuss the issue of transboundary haze.

ASEAN ministers to meet for haze talks

SINGAPORE: ASEAN ministers are meeting this Friday in Bangkok to discuss transboundary haze.

Singapore’s Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan will attend the 12th Meeting of the Sub-Regional Ministerial Steering Committee on Transboundary Haze Pollution.

A statement from the ministry said he will be meeting his counterparts from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand to “review and enhance measures to monitor, prevent and mitigate land and forest fires in the southern ASEAN region”.

Dr Balakrishnan will be accompanied by senior officials from the ministry and the National Environment Agency.
