SIA gets kudos for green cargo services
Singapore Airlines Cargo has been named the Best Air Cargo Carrier – Asia and the Best Green Service Provider – Airline, at the annual Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards.
Singapore Airlines (SIA) was voted the winner of the two categories for the 15th time and third time respectively, it said in a statement yesterday.
The award winners were chosen based on a survey of readers of Cargo News Asia, a leading shipping, supply-chain and cargo-transport newspaper.
Mr Tan Kai Ping, president of SIA, said: “We are proud to receive these awards on behalf of our staff who work hard to enhance the airline’s commitment to quality service, and we acknowledge the unstinting support given to us by our loyal customers in a highly competitive market.
“We are also delighted that readers of Cargo News Asia recognise our commitment to make our operations and workplace more environmentally friendly. These awards are a welcome boost for all of us.”
This year’s awards presentation was held at the Shangri- La hotel in Singapore on Wednesday.
SIA was also voted Cargo Airline of the Year – Asia Pacific at the Cargo Airline of the Year Awards conferred by Air Cargo News. The awards presentation was held recently at the Lancaster Hotel in London.
Mr Simon Coomber, SIA’s manager for Britain and Ireland, collected the award on behalf of the carrier.
