Thank you Biostarch!

Thank you, Richard Chang from Biostarch, for giving a presentation on 100% biodegradeble bags.

On the day he explained that Biostarch conducted extensive testing before arriving at this final product, which carries European, US and Australian standard certification.

Richard also demonstrated how easily the material dissolves in water when manipulated with his fingers, and how sturdy it is when dry.  Attendees were invited to conduct their own testing, by touching and pulling at the material, as well as place cold drinks with condesation forming on the outside into one of the thinner bags. That bag held out very well and by the end of the night had no holes.

A big thank you also to those who attended, and we hope you found it interesting! For those who were unable to attend and wish to contact Richard, his email address is

See you at the next one!

  • About Green Drinks Singapore

Founded in November 2007, Green Drinks Singapore is one of more than 800 cities with a Green Drinks presence.

  • We are a non-profit environmental movement that connects academia, green businesses, activists, community and government, for knowledge sharing and collaboration opportunities. We do this by organising informal talks every last Thursday of the month, over drinks! Once in a while, we hold discussions, documentary screenings and workshops to further engage the public and participants.
  • Started in 1989 in London, the Green Drinks movement is a self-organising network that is meant to be simple and unstructured. The global site can be found at
